Where It All Began
Ammu Foods was born in 2018 in Kruthika's grandmother's kitchen in Madurai — with one jar of avakaya pickle, a copper vessel, and a promise to never use shortcuts.

Kruthika ships her first 12 jars of avakaya pickle to friends in Chennai. Word spreads fast.
We move into a proper community kitchen in Madurai. Five local women join the team.
Snacks, sweets and namkeens join the range. Every recipe still tasted before shipping.
Our jars now reach kitchens in every state of India. Still hand-made. Still no shortcuts.
40+ women employed at fair wages. 100% women-led. And we're just getting started.

What we believe
We refuse to add preservatives, artificial colors, or machine-mix our masalas. Every batch is small enough that a real person can taste it before it leaves our kitchen.
We pay our women 30% above the local wage. We source directly from farms in Tamil Nadu. And we ship only what we can make with care.
